Dinet Manik Syiem Memorial Higher Secondary School held its first food festival on March 13 on the school premises, a press release informed today.
The initiative aimed to celebrate food and diverse culture working in tandem with different stakeholders like the Barefoot Trust to maximise learning opportunities for children coming from diverse backgrounds.
The event was graced by Aiban Swer, Director of the Meghalaya Basin Development Authority, in the presence of the school principal, Drimsibon Kharkongor.
Speaking on the occasion, Swer highlighted the importance of infusing indigenous and traditional knowledge of food, as it is the element that binds society together.
A key highlight was the Ila Lari collection and Noodle Bar, an entrepreneurial exercise from Class 10 students, who learned the ropes of business modeling and financial literacy through the event.
