Director General of Police, Dr LR Bishnoi has urged religious heads and institutions to extend support in rehabilitation of at least one drug user.
Speaking at an all faith interaction on drug addiction and related social evils organised by East Khasi Hills police at Bianchi Hall in Laitumkhrah Cathedral today, Bishnoi spoke at length on the issues and challenges of drug addiction and the need to collaborate with religious and community leaders towards fighting the menace.
Father Richard Majaw, Vicar General, Shillong Archdiocese, Rev W.C.Khongwir, former Moderator Presbyterian Church of India, Nabha Bhatacharjee, President Central Puja Committee, Mukhdar Hafeez, Second Imam Bilal Masjid Lumdiengjri and Raminder Singh, President Gurdwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha also spoke at the programme.
The programme is one of the initiatives taken by the police department to enhance community participation in fighting the menace of drugs.
