World Suicide Prevention Day will be observed in East Jaiñtia Hills with a cycle rally and a public discussion on September 9.
The programme will be organised by the San-Ker, Shillong in collaboration with residents of the district.
Director of San-Ker, Dr. S.S Syiem said the International Association for Suicide Prevention (IASP) hosts the “Cycle Around the Globe” challenge each year to encourage individuals across the world to collectively cycle the circumference of the globe with the intention of raising awareness globally and to share the message that ‘suicide is preventable’.
The cycle rally will start from Don Bosco College, Byndihati to Good Shepherd Secondary School, Ladrymbai at 7 am, he informed. Thereafter a public discussion on the topic of suicide prevention is also scheduled at the auditorium of the college at 10 am.
