Shillong, Jun 11: The North East Students’ Organization has strongly condemned the killing of six Naga men from Konsakhul Naga Village, calling it a “barbaric, inhumane and cold-blooded murder” and demanding a swift, transparent probe.
The dismembered remains of the six men were recovered on June 10, 2026. NESO said they were abducted from Leilon Vaiphei village on May 13, 2026.
In a statement issued today, NESO Chairman Samuel B. Jyrwa said the victims were reportedly tortured before being murdered and mutilated. “The sheer brutality inflicted upon these innocent individuals has shocked the conscience of the entire North East,” the statement said.
NESO extended condolences to the bereaved families and the people of Konsakhul Naga Village, saying it stands in solidarity with those “robbed of their loved ones in such a cruel and senseless manner.”
The organisation demanded that every individual involved be identified, arrested, and prosecuted without delay. “Failure to do so will further embolden those who continue to perpetrate violence with impunity,” NESO said.
Criticising the Centre, NESO questioned why “not a single accused involved in the countless killings, abductions, arson and atrocities” in Manipur has been effectively convicted despite three years of conflict and the deployment of thousands of Central Security Forces.
NESO also raised “grave concern” over allegations of partisan conduct by Central Forces. “Any act of complicity, negligence, collusion, or bias by security forces… constitutes a serious betrayal of public trust and must face appropriate legal and disciplinary action,” the statement read.
The organisation reiterated that it has consistently advocated for peace, dialogue, and reconciliation in Manipur but noted that the situation continues to deteriorate.
“Lasting peace can only be achieved through justice, accountability and equal protection of all communities,” NESO said, urging the Government of India to act decisively to restore public confidence and end what it called a “culture of impunity” in the state.
