A man was brutally smashed to death by his cousins at Jalaphet Bri-Sumer under East Jaiñtia Hills district, police said today.
The deceased has been identified as Raju Yndon. According to police, his body was lying on the road side at Jalaphet Bri-Sumer with his head smashed by sharp objects and split into two yesterday.
Police said a dao used to commit the crime was also found broken into two parts, near the body of the deceased.
As per preliminary investigation, it was learnt that Raju was coming from Jalaphet in his maruti car along with his two cousin brothers identified as Donbor Yndon and Janki Yndon.
“During preliminary enquiry and questioning of Donbor Yndoh and on observation of his wearing apparels, it was found that his trouser along with his shoes were covered with blood,” police said, adding based on suspicion, Janki was also picked up and taken to Khliehriat police station for safe custody and for interrogation.
Police said while the cause of the murder is yet unknown, the duo admitted to have committed the crime.
A case has been registered at Saipung police station and investigation is on.
