New cases of Covid-19 outnumbered recoveries from the disease in Meghalaya for the first time in eight days today. There were 61 new infections, 51 recoveries and one fatality.
The lone death was logged in East Khasi Hills, the Health Department informed.
East Khasi Hills recorded 35 new cases today, West Khasi Hills 13 and there were 13 between the other nine districts.
East Khasi Hills accounted for 31 recoveries, West Khasi Hills 16 and there were four between the other nine districts.
There are now 516 active Covid-19 cases in the state. East Khasi Hills alone accounts for 317 active cases, West Khasi Hills 97, West Jaiñtia Hills 37, Ri-Bhoi 29, West Garo Hills 11, East Garo Hills nine, South West Khasi Hills four, East Jaiñtia Hills four, South West Garo Hills four, North Garo Hills two and South Garo Hills two.
In all, Meghalaya has had 83,527 Covid-19 cases, of which 516 are active, 81,562 have recovered and 1,449 have died from the virus. The recovery rate is 97.65 percent. The fatality is 1.73 percent. The seven-day rolling average for new cases is 45.29 and for new deaths is 1.14.
