There were 129 new cases of Covid-19 recorded in Meghalaya today, along with 199 new cases and four fatalities.
September has thus seen 5,454 new infections, 6,068 recoveries and 93 deaths. The number of new cases is roughly half of the August figures, while the number of recoveries and deaths is around 40 percent of the August figures.
Two deaths today were in East Khasi Hills, one in East Garo Hills and one in West Jaiñtia Hills. Three of the four were unvaccinated, the Health Department informed.
East Khasi Hills recorded 66 new cases today, West Khasi Hills 42, West Jaiñtia Hills 11 and 10 between the other eight districts.
East Khasi Hills accounted for 109 recoveries, Ri-Bhoi 27, West Khasi Hills 23, West Jaiñtia Hills 22 and 18 between the other seven districts.
There are now 1,619 active Covid-19 cases in the state. East Khasi Hills alone accounts for 783 active cases, West Khasi Hills 393, Ri-Bhoi 184, West Jaiñtia Hills 163, South West Khasi Hills 37, West Garo Hills 28, East Jaiñtia Hills 17, East Garo Hills five, South West Garo Hills five, North Garo Hills three and South Garo Hills one.
In all, Meghalaya has had 81,290 Covid-19 cases, of which 1,619 are active, 78,267 have recovered and 1,404 have died from the virus. The recovery rate is 96.28 percent. The fatality is 1.73 percent. The seven-day rolling average for new cases is 149.14 and for new deaths is 2.57.
