There were another six Covid-related deaths in Meghalaya today, taking the toll in the past three days to 16. There were also 361 new cases, which took the state’s tally of coronavirus cases above 90,000, and 348 recoveries.
Five of the fatalities were in East Khasi Hills and one in West Garo Hills. There have been 31 Covid deaths this month so far in Meghalaya.
East Khasi Hills recorded 182 new cases (including 17 returnees and 11 health workers), West Garo Hills 88 (59 through screening), Ri-Bhoi 19, West Jaintia Hills 15, South West Garo Hills 13, Eastern West Khasi Hills nine, North Garo Hills seven, East Garo Hills six, South Garo Hills six, West Khasi Hills five and South West Khasi Hills four.
East Khasi Hills accounted for 262 recoveries, West Garo Hills 38, Ri-Bhoi 24, East Garo Hills five, West Jaintia Hills five, East Jaintia Hills four, Eastern West Khasi Hills four, South West Garo Hills three and West Khasi Hills three.
There are now 2,422 active Covid-19 cases in the state. East Khasi Hills alone accounts for 1,381 active cases, West Garo Hills 471, Ri-Bhoi 178, West Jaintia Hills 85, North Garo Hills 53, South West Garo Hills 50, South West Khasi Hills 46, Eastern West Khasi Hills 46, East Jaintia Hills 35, South Garo Hills 30, West Khasi Hills 27 and East Garo Hills 20.
In all, Meghalaya has had 90,202 Covid-19 cases, of which 2,422 are active, 86,265 have recovered and 1,515 have died from the virus. The seven-day average of new infections has risen to 352.43.
