President of the Confederation of Ri Bhoi People (CoRP) and two members were today arrested for alleged assault on employees of two oil service stations after they refused free fuel in Umroi area.
Police sources said that the accused have been identified as president, Bandari Ryntathiang. He had gone with his two members to the filling station and at around 9:30 pm on Friday demanded free petrol from the service stations. When the employees refused, he along with the members started assaulting the employees and destroyed the furniture there.
The arrest was made following and FIR filed by the owner of Nongpluh Service Station and the Dorbar Shnong of Lumdaitkhla village.
CoRP Vice President, Carbius Lyngdoh who tried to settle the matter by offering for a compromise, told reporters that the organisation will find out the truth about the incident.
