The state Mahila Congress has urged the Meghalaya government to consider the “urgent need” for a proper amusement park for children in the state.
In a statement issued today, the Mahila Congress highlighted what it described as “growing concern” among parents and families who are compelled to travel to neighbouring states to access quality recreational spaces for their children.
“The absence of a suitable amusement park within Meghalaya not only deprives children of their right to safe and joyful play spaces but also imposes unnecessary travel burdens on families,” said Joplyn Scott Shylla, president of the Meghalaya Pradesh Mahila Congress. “We believe that our children deserve to have a place where they can enjoy their weekends, holidays and free time within their own state. A proper amusement park will not only support children’s development but also boost local tourism and provide employment opportunities.”
The Mahila Congress firmly believes that investment in child-friendly infrastructure is a reflection of a government’s commitment to inclusive growth and community welfare. It urged the government to take immediate steps toward planning and developing a modern, safe and inclusive amusement park in Meghalaya.
