Shillong, Jul 12: The Meghalaya Pradesh Mahila Congress has strongly condemned the alleged acts committed by a youth against young college girls.
If the allegations are true, such acts represent a grave violation of the dignity, safety and rights of women and deserve the strongest condemnation, MPHC president Joplyn Scott Shylla said in a release today.
“We urge the investigating authorities to conduct a fair, impartial and swift investigation. If sufficient evidence establishes criminal responsibility, the accused should be arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the law and justice must be delivered without delay,” she said.
Our thoughts are with the young women who have come forward. They deserve to be treated with dignity, compassion, and respect throughout the legal process.
