Acting on specific information, troops of 4 Bn BSF Meghalaya seized 220 bottles of Phensedyl from the East Khasi Hills district while being smuggled from India to Bangladesh.
The seized Phensedyl were further handed over to concern authority for further necessary action, the BSF said.
Phensedyl is a codeine-based cough syrup used as a substitute for liquor, which is strictly prohibited in the neighbouring country Bangladesh. Since January 2023, BSF Meghalaya seized more than 1300 bottles of the syrup, the statement added.
