The 4th Battalion of the Border Security Force (BSF) Meghalaya, in a bid to ensure the wellbeing of the population living on the international border, organised a medical camp under its civic action programme in Muktapur and Jaliakhola, West Jaintia Hills, today.
During the camp, approximately 400 patients were attended to by BSF doctors. An awareness campaign on hygiene and sanitation was carried out and wheelchairs were also distributed to physically disabled villagers.
Besides health checkups, the BSF also distributed various items like water purifiers, stationery, dustbins, water tanks, etc children and villagers.
Devinder Singh, Commandant of the 4th Battalion, also inaugurated two sports clubs in Muktapur and Sanghat, to which complete sports kits were given. A total six sports clubs will be opened under civic action programmes at different locations on the border, the Commandant said.
