Shillong, Sep 30: The Meghalaya government and the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) today strengthened their partnership on food security and nutrition by signing an amendment to their existing agreement.
The ceremony was held at the WFP head office in New Delhi in the presence of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister Methodious Dkhar.
Commissioner & Secretary Pravin Bakshi signed on behalf of the state government, while Representative and Country Director Elisabeth Faure signed for WFP India.
The partnership builds on collaboration from 2022 on PDS reforms, supply chain optimisation, digital innovation, beneficiary services and capacity building.
The renewed pact will focus on cooperation, innovation and improved food security systems to help the state achieve Sustainable Development Goal 2 – Zero Hunger, officials said.
