In separate operations yesterday, personnel of the Border Security Force (BSF) foiled illegal smuggling attempts on the international border with Bangladesh in Meghalaya.
Acting on specific tip-off, the vigilant troops of the 172nd Battalion of the BSF seized 200 bottles of phensedyl cough syrup while being smuggled to Bangladesh through the international border in East Jaintia Hills.
In another operation, three Indian nationals were apprehended along with over 6.8 tonnes of sugar seized from different bordering districts of Meghalaya.
The confiscated cough syrup and sugar were handed over to the respective Customs office and police station for further necessary legal action.
