Two books of Martin Luther Christian University (MLCU) Press were released on the opening day of the Monolith Festival 2024 at Mawphlang today.
The two are ‘Khasi Ethics’ and ‘Ha Yupiam Ka Bei’ (On Mother’s Lap).
The first has been authored by Fr Barnes Mawrie and is a treasure trove of cultural knowledge about the Khasi way of life.
The author delves into the personal and social ethics and their relevance in Khasi society. Although society continues to be transformed, the Khasi ethical code of conduct still continues to guide the community.
Susngi’s book was actually released last year at a tribal conclave in Jamshedpur. Her book of lullabies is a curated collection of 25 Khasi lullabies in the dialects of Khasi Hills, Jaintia Hills and Ri-Bhoi.
