Shillong, Jul 18: A literary work titled, ‘Khasi-Jaintia and Karbis: From Symbiotic History to an Ongoing False Dispute—Karbi Youth Festival as the Confluence of Two Communities’ was released today at the Karbi Hemtun (Karbi Anglong Guest House).
Authored by Hirolfsberg Rongphar, Assistant Professor, Department of History, Nehru College, Pailapool and doctoral scholar at Assam University Diphu Campus, the volume examines the historic ties between the communities.
Rongphar frames the Karbi Youth Festival as a shared cultural bridge, aiming to challenge narratives of division and highlight a heritage of symbiotic coexistence between the Khasi-Jaintia and Karbi communities.
Paiem Laborious Manik Sing Syiem attended the launch as the chief guest in the presence of retired IAS Jones Ingti Kathar, Deivica Dkhar, President, KSU Assam University unit, and John Engti Kathar, President, KSA Shillong.
