After nine days the search and rescue team deployed at Umngi River, South West Khasi Hills managed to fish out the body of an angler on Tuesday.
The team along with the Fire and Emergency Service team, Mawkyrwat and villagers of Lawblei have been carrying extensive search for 22-year-old Sainkupar Lyngkhoi of Lawbyrtun, Eastern West Khasi Hills, who had fallen in the river on May 25 while fishing with three others.
On May 29, the body was spotted floating in the river but incessant rain hindered efforts to retrieve the body.
