The search and rescue team has spotted the body of a man floating in Umngi River, South West Khasi Hills today.
However, incessant rain has significantly hindered efforts to retrieve the body, which is suspected to be of the missing angler.
The Search and Rescue Team along with the Fire and Emergency Service team, Mawkyrwat and villagers of Lawblei have been carrying extensive search for 22-year-old Sainkupar Lyngkhoi of Lawbyrtun, Eastern West Khasi Hills, who had fallen in the river on May 25 while fishing with three others.
The body was spotted today but the ongoing heavy rain and rising river levels with strong currents have proved challenging for the teams.
