Joining in state-wide protests, pressure groups in the State draped towns and villages in the district in black flags in protest over the Mukroh firing incident yesterday where six people were shot dead by Assam police.
The KSU, FKJGP, RBYF and HNYF put up black flags in Shillong, Nongpoh, Byrnihat, Umsning, Umiam, Khliehriat and border villages with the message that the state government must act strictly over the incident.
“Our innocent people living in border villages along Assam have been made scapegoats and been mishandled by Assam but our state government has been mum all the time,” one of the leaders of the groups said.
The pressure groups also strongly denounced the Meghalaya government for suspending mobile internet services.
