The National People’s Party (NPP) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have distinct identities, state BJP vice-president Wankitbok Pohshna said today.
A frequently-used jibe from rival parties has been that the NPP and BJP – at least in Meghalaya – are one and the same. However, Pohshna said that this is a “misinformation campaign aimed at misleading the people of Meghalaya.”
Pohshna derided the NPP, a BJP ally, as having a “negligible” presence in the North East outside Meghalaya, let alone the rest of the country.
He added that “no NPP member has a say in BJP’s model of governance” and said that the saffron party will once again go it alone in the Lok Sabha elections for the Tura and Shillong seats.
