An awareness programme on World Milk Day was today held at the campus of the Martin Luther Christian University (MLCU).
The programme was organised by the office of the Senior Dairy Officer under the Directorate of Dairy Development in collaboration with the university.
East Khasi Hills Senior Dairy Officer, K. M. Lawriniang in his address stressed on the importance of creating awareness about the benefits of milk and milk products for health. He further added that the state has been in process to expand its milk and milk products production so as to be at par with the rest of country in production.
Kyrmenskhem Diengdoh, Dairy Officer, gave a brief presentation on the importance of milk and its nutritional values. She highlighted the various milk-based products that can be consumed but are not very popular in the state.
Milk products produced by the Directorate of Diary Development, were also displayed for the students, staff and faculty of MLCU.
