An awareness programme on the Meghalaya Right to Public Services Act, 2020 was organised by the East Jaintia Hills District Planning Officer in Khliehriat today.
Resource persons from different departments including the District Disaster Management Officer, D. Lyngdoh, District Informatics Officer, I. Rymbai, Sub-Inspector of Supply, M. Sohkhlet, and e-District Manager, R. Pohrem spoke on various topics concerning the act.
Lyngdoh highlighted the list of Services notified under the act and informed the gathering on several rules imposed under the act including liability of Designated Officer, duty of Designated Officer, Penalty and Compensation, etc. He Lyngdoh also illustrated on the Right of Citizens to appeal to the Meghalaya Right to Public Services Commission in case he or she does not receive the required services from the Designated Officer within the stipulated time period.
Rymbai elaborated on the significance of e-governance initiatives while Pohrem highlighted on the availability and accessibility of e-services provided within the district in facilitating the public to get access to every available service.
Sohkhlet spoke about the format of application, receipt of application and issuance of acknowledgement to the applicants within stipulated time by every Designated Officer.
