A 47 year old man from Beltola, Assam was found dead inside a hotel room in Khyndailad today, police said.
Sijo Joseph was found dead at Hotel Assembly in Police Bazaar area.
“Following information from the staff of the hotel that an occupant of a room hadn’t come out for more than a day, police broke open the door and found Joseph’s lifeless body lying on the bed,” East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police, Rituraj Ravi said.
He said an inquest was carried out and prima facie it seems to be a case of death due to overdose of sedatives and anti-depressants with no signs of foul play.
The body has been sent for post mortem and the family has contacted. Further investigation is being conducted, the SP said.
