West Garo Hills police seized another massive haul of narcotics, this time from the village of Shyamding, under Phulbari Police Station, and arrested one suspect.
One Sajidur Islam was picked up by police from his house after information was received from sources of the suspect being involved in a drug trafficking racket. Islam was arrested late yesterday evening.
The raid led to the recovery of 14,352 tramadol tablets. Tramadol is a legal drug, but as it is an opioid, it is strictly controlled. The estimated wholesale price of the seized drugs is worth more than Rs 3.5 lakh.
“The arrested peddler is a part of a gang of interstate drug racketeers. A case under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act has been registered at the Phulbari PS and the matter is being investigated and are trying to catch the kingpin in this racket,” said Superintendent of Police MGR Kumar.
This arrest and recovery comes in the wake of another bust of a drug peddler a few days ago near Hallidayganj, though the police stated that currently they have found no link between the two cases.
