Editor,
Through this column of your esteem paper, we the students of Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA) course of St. Edmund’s College, Shillong would like to bring to the notice of the concerned authorities, the poor way in which the Project Presentation of the Sixth Semester final NEHU Exams was conducted. In spite of being fully aware that the competitive industries are looking for the best for placement.
An External Examiner was appointed for the Project Presentation and we expected that all students would be examined by the appointed External Examiner. However, the department divided the students into batches so that some were examined in the presence of the External Examiner while the rest were examined only by the Internal Examiners!
We feel this is discrimination because those students examined by the Internal Examiners only would be more comfortable and may even get better marks than those who were examined in the presence of the External Examiner, who seems to be really unhappy with the presentation of the students. Such action from the college authority is extremely unfair.
Why weren’t all students examined on a common platform so that everyone would be evaluated at the same yardstick? Why was there favouritism and all the students not examined by the External Examiner, since he had been appointed for this purpose? Everyone knows that each mark can decide a University Position and we feel that our future has been jeopardised.
We are writing this letter under anonymity for obvious reasons as we still are yet to appear for our theory papers. We would request the St. Edmund’s College and NEHU authorities to conduct an enquiry in this matter and do the needful.
