Shillong, May 6: The Meghalaya High Court has directed the land customs station to submit reports detailing the number of heavy vehicles that passed through their check posts following the interim directions passed on April 21.
A division bench of the High Court consisting of Chief Justice Revati Mohite Dere and Justice HS Thangkhiew, earlier directed authorities to ensure that no vehicle passes through the land customs station and forest department checkpoints, in the absence of any valid mineral transport challan or any other documents so required, which corresponds to the truck number.
The court today confronted Advocate General Amit Kumar as authorities have not submitted any data regarding actions taken since the court’s initial directions.
Amicus Curiae, Philemon Nongbri reported to the court that there are glaring discrepancies in the submission of the Customs, Forests and Environment and the Transport departments and sought time to file a report within one week.
