The All India Garo Union (AIGU) has established its new regional unit in Byrnihat.
The regional unit will be led by Simion Marak as the president and Karan Marak the general secretary, Synmoon Marak (adviser) along with other office bearers and members.
AIGU president Albert Marak and general secretary Diplu Momin officially established the unit at a function held at the football ground of Dehal Bagan, Byrnihat.
Leaders of the All Assam Garo Union, Garo Students’ Union, All Khasi Hills Achik Federation and others were present on the occasion.
The AIGU president said the purpose of the regional unit is to promote unity among the Garo community residing in the region. He stated that the initiative is apolitical in nature and commended the leaders for stepping forward to work for the betterment and empowerment of the Garo community.
