A water tank constructed under the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), aimed at providing tap water to every household in Saphai village in West Jaintia Hills district, was reportedly installed with no water in it.
This was stated by the Khasi Students Union (KSU) Kupli area circle who visited the village following complaints from the residents.
According to the KSU, the union leaders had met with PHE executive engineer R. Kynjing on September 18, 2024, who had then assured that the tank would be made functional with water in it by October 23, 2024.
However, three months have passed since the plan to deliver drinking water remains stuck in limbo, the KSU said.
