Congress president Vincent H Pala has called on party candidates who will run the district council elections to avoid negative campaigning and mudslinging but choose to put forward issues concerning the people.
Pala was speaking at the introduction function hosted by the Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee for the 18 candidates who will vie for the upcoming elections to the Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council at CTC Orchid Thadlaskeiñ, West Jaiñtia Hills today.
While blame game takes centre stage during election campaigns Pala said mudslinging has always been a go-to strategy when it comes to political campaigns. Therefore, the party candidates must stay humble and work with dedication because people are knowledgeable electorates, he added.
He urged party workers to focus on the upcoming district council elections.
Pala informed that a training programme was conducted for all the party candidates.
The Congress candidates present at the introduction function were Romeo Lyngdon (War Central), Madonbai Rymbai (Awwi Khliehtyrshi), Bitos Sari (Mukhla-Ummulong), Jona Rynjah (Moodymmai Nongkhroh), Katbanbiang Lamare (Nartiang Wahiajer), Richard Sing Lamare (Mynso Nongjngi), Banikas Laban (Barato-Mukroh), Rikut Parien (Saphai Sahsniang), Welpard Suchiang (Raliang), J. Treilang Suchiang (Shangpung), Saron Paswet (Jowai South), Yookini Phawa (Muthlong-Sohkymphor), Siril Suja (Sutnga Nongkhlieh), Lalwilliama Thiaite (Saipung Nongkhlieh), Grimlang Dkhar (Narpuh), Bashan Tangliang (Sumer), Brosent Siangshai (Musniang Ryngad) and Pynbiangmi Laloo (Mowkaiaw).
