Shija Hospitals & Research Institute in collaboration with the Manipur State AIDS Control Society (MACS) officially inaugurated an Anti-Retroviral Therapy (ART) Centre in Imphal today.
This initiative aims to address the urgent need for accessible and effective treatment for individuals living with HIV/AIDS (PLHIV) in Manipur.
Manipur State AIDS Control Society project director Haobam Rosita and Dr. M. Kulachandra Singh, Senior Physician at Shija Hospitals attended the function as guest.
Dr. S Jupitar, Deputy Director (CST) of MACS spoke about the partnership between Shija Hospitals and MACS in addressing HIV/AIDS in the region.
During the event, Deepak Langpoklakpam, a person living with HIV (PLHIV), shared his recovery journey, highlighting the impact of accessible care and treatment.
During the event, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Shija Academy of Health Sciences and MACS, further strengthening the partnership to combat HIV/AIDS in the region.
Antiretroviral Therapy (ART) is the primary treatment for HIV, which helps to suppress the viral load and prevent the progression to AIDS. Since 2004, the Indian government has been offering free ART through its National AIDS Control Program.
