The state Congress Party has completed its selection of candidates from Ri-Bhoi for the upcoming Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) election, with the choice of Lawrence Nongrum for the Nongpoh seat.
Nongrum’s name was not announced as part of the second tranche that was revealed on Friday but the party officially did so yesterday.
Ri-Bhoi has five constituencies in the KHADC and the party’s other candidates are Dominic Mynsong (Mawhati), Rocky Marwein (Umsning), MD Syiem (Umroi) and Victor Rani (Jirang).
Speaking to reporters, Nongrum expressed heartfelt gratitude to the leadership of the Meghalaya Congress, the Ri-Bhoi District Congress Committee and Nongpoh Block Congress Committee for entrusting him with the responsibility to contest the party in the upcoming election.
He further stated that his decision to seek the party ticket was driven by a strong desire to serve the people of Nongpoh constituency and contribute meaningfully to the overall development of the state.
