The inaugural programme of Agrivision was held today at College of Post Graduate Studies in Agricultural Sciences, Umiam.
More than 600 participants witnessed the event. The chief guest at the programme was Dr. S K Singh, Deputy Director General-Horticulture, ICAR, New Delhi. The guests of honour were Assam Agriculture University vice chancellor Dr. Bidyut C. Deka, ABVP national joint secretary Govind Nayak and Agrivision national convener Subham Singh Patel.
During the inaugural session, Dr. P K Pandey, organising secretary Agrivision-2024, specified the aims and objectives of this two-day conclave.
Dr. S K Singh, Deputy Director General-Horticulture, ICAR, New Delhi in his speech as chief guest, congratulated the Agrivision team members for this noble effort and specified the wide potential of diverse agro products. He urged that students should not be job seekers and should be job providers.
Vice Chancellor of CAU-Imphal Dr. Anupam Mishra, emphasised on creating demands for specialised products and revisiting our old wisdoms to address various challenges and issues raised in the present agri and allied sectors.
Assam Agriculture University vice chancellor Dr. Bidyut C. Deka spoke about tailor made technologies that need to be addressed for the North East agricultural sector for self reliance. He also advocated for electronic marketing products and grooming of agro entrepreneurs.
Govind Nayak, special guest of the conclave, highlighted that the aim of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad is to develop students to be a good citizen of India with a slogan of “Students are the citizens of today not tomorrow”. He narrated various activities undertaken by ABVP at national level.
The inaugural session concluded with the vote of thanks by Dr. Jeti Konsam, State In-charge, Agrivision.
