Pressure groups swooped on a coterie of drug users in the capital city and the district headquarter of South West Khasi Hills district.
The Hynñiewtrep Youths’ Council (HYC) this evening detected 20 drug users and small dealers in Them Mawbah (Jhalupara) area in the city.
According to the group, syringes and other items like hammers, screw drivers, daggers and other items were recovered from their possession.
The HYC suspects that these items were used by the drug users to harm people as well as to utilise them for stealing.
On the other hand the Hynñiewtrep Integrated Territorial Organisation (HITO) detected 18 drug users last night.
HITO district president Polius Thyrniang said the seized syringes, marijuana, other items used in consuming drugs were burnt down.
The group handed over the persons to the Dorbar Shnong Mawkyrwat, Seng Samla Shnong and members of the Village Defence Party.
