The Jowai unit of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) organised a function for its U Kiang Nangbah Best Student Award 2023 yesterday in Jowai.
The ABVP, a right-wing all India student organisation affiliated to the Hindu nationalist organisation Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, honoured more than 80 toppers of SSLC and HSSLC exams from Jaiñtia Hills.
Present as chief guest was cabinet minister Kyrmen Shylla, who lauded the young achievers and motivated them to work for the betterment of the country.
The guest of honour was Puramon Kynjing, the Dalloi of Jowai Elaka, who gave a brief history about the life of freedom fighter U Kiang Nangbah.
