Shillong, Jun 7: A newly established government secondary school was formally handed over to the Jongushen village in the Amlarem sub-division by Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui recently.
The school was constructed under the Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA), which is expected to play a crucial role in enhancing the educational infrastructure within the region. Previously, local students were compelled to travel long distances to continue their education, which often posed significant challenges. The new institution will provide greater access to quality secondary education, allowing students to pursue their studies closer to home.
Rymbui reiterated that education is a priority and is essential in empowering individuals and promoting social progress. The Minister encouraged students to leverage the opportunities presented by the new school, while also calling upon parents, teachers, and community leaders to foster an environment that nurtures academic excellence.
The minister acknowledged the pivotal role of educators in shaping future generations and urged them to remain dedicated and professional in their responsibilities. He expressed confidence that the school would flourish, providing lasting benefits for both current and future students from Jongushen and neighbouring villages.
