The court of Swapna G. Momin, Special Judge (POCSO) East Khasi Hills on May 2 convicted one Noni Chakraborty for sexual assault on a minor.
Chakraborty was found guilty under Section 8 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
He received punishment of rigorous imprisonment for four years and a fine of Rs. 3,000. In default he has to undergo simple imprisonment for another one month.
The case was lodged at Laban Police Station in 2018 and was investigated by WPSI Romaya Carina Nongkynrih presently posted in Nongmensong Outpost, Shillong.
