The silver jubilee of the Kharmuti clan, Shilyngwiar Kur Kharmuti, was celebrated with great fervour at Tynring village, where hundreds of relatives and well-wishers gathered for the occasion.
The event featured vibrant cultural celebrations, with both young and old members of the clan participating in performances that honoured their traditions and heritage.
During his address, Pyniaidsuk Pyngrope, Lyngdoh Raij Nongkrem, recounted the origin of the Kharmuti clan, tracing its roots back to a noble and compassionate act by his maternal uncle. The story began when his uncle, with a heart full of kindness, brought an orphaned girl named Muti from Bengal and raised her as his own.
As Muti grew, the uncle arranged for her marriage to a young man from Mawlat, Long Suting. Together, they became the founding parents of the Kharmuti clan, giving birth to six children – five daughters and one son.
