Trader and transporter unions in Jaintia Hills have come together and constituted a Joint Action Committee (JAC) to take up issues of trade and commerce.
The JAC constitutes the East Jaintia Coal Supplier and Minerals Association, All Jaintia Cement Clinker Association, East Jaintia Hills Truck Owners and Transporters Association, East Jaintia Drivers Association, East Jaintia Limestone Supplier Association and Jaintia Coal Miners and Dealers Association.
A meeting was held at Khliehriat West community hall wherein the JAC elected former MLA Justine Dkhar as its president, Soomeyoo Sayoo general secretary, Hambertus Nongtdu treasurer and two advisors Amos Dkhar and Deibor Sungoh.
All presidents and general secretaries of the associations were elected as vice presidents and assistant secretaries of the JAC respectively. The JAC also elected 33 as members of the executive committee.
