Social activist Cherian Momin has written to the Chief Minister to bring his attention to the allegedly poor state of road infrastructure in Resubelpara constituency, represented by Deputy Speaker of the Assembly, Timothy D Shira.
The road conditions have deteriorated significantly, causing substantial inconvenience and posing serious safety risks to the residents, Momin said.
The roads in question include the one leading to the Deputy Commissioner’s office; road serving the District Rural Development Agency; road connecting to the Public Works Department office; road leading to the municipal office; Resu Rome Rabha Road; Jonglapara Road; Dekatchang Bajar to DC Office Road.
“The persistent neglect and lack of proper maintenance have left these roads filled with large potholes, making them hazardous for all users. Despite numerous complaints and pleas from the residents, no significant measures have been taken to address these issues,” Momin said. “The most affected are the school children who have to navigate through these slushy and dilapidated roads daily. This not only poses a risk to their safety but also reflects poorly on the local MLA’s concern for his constituents. The condition of these roads highlights the State government’s failure to provide adequate road infrastructure and communication facilities for the people of Resubelpara, the district headquarters of North Garo Hills.”
He went on to blame “administrative apathy”, “crony contractors” “temporary and ineffective” solutions that exacerbate the problem, etc.
