Movement of vehicles along the National Highway-6 in East Jaintia Hills was disrupted today after a landslide at the tunnel in Sonapur.
The landslide occurred at around 10:45 am and totally blocked the entrance to the tunnel.
Workers swung into action and removed the debris which included mud and rocks with the help of bulldozers.
District authorities have urged commuters to exercise caution while travelling on this stretch of the highway.
Similarly, authorities of Pynursla civil sub-division said that due to inclement weather conditions, there is likelihood of further landslides along the Rngain stretch of National Highway-40. They have advised the people to avoid unnecessary travel along the road.
