Shillong, Aug 4: The Meghalaya government has clarified that salaries of all previously MGNREGA staff and now VB-GRAM-G/VB-REGLMS staff for July 2026 will be released within two days, following receipt of sanctions from the Union Ministry of Rural Development.
In a press release issued by Sibhi Chakravarthy Sadhu, Mission Director of the State Rural Employment Society, the government addressed issues related to clearing of salaries, TA/DA and other administrative components after the repeal of MGNREGA and implementation of VB-GRAM-G/VB-REGLMS in the state.
The key points from the clarification are that July salaries are to be released in two days as sanctions for the administrative component have been received from the Centre.
However, there is no solution at hand for the pending dues for April-June. The state is coordinating with the MoRD for expedited release of all salary, TA/DA and other administrative components due until June 30, Sadhu said.
If sanctions are delayed, some relief will be provided through Meghalaya’s own resources. During 2025, salaries for 1-2 months were also paid as interim arrangements through state resources.
The release further stated that all salaries have been cleared up to March and in some districts up to April.
Sadhu blamed the transition from MGNREGA to VB-GRAM-G/VB-REGLMS for the challenges in disbursement of staff payments, which the department said it is now working to resolve in coordination with the Centre.
