The District Magistrate of South West Khasi Hills has passed an order under Section 144 of the CrPC to curtail overloaded trucks from using weakened bridges that has become old and dilapidated.
According to the order, there are a total of eight weak bridges in Mawkyrwat division.
Trucks often defy load limits, so the DM has promulgated an order on March 15, which was released to the media today, prohibiting heavy laden vehicles over 9 tonnes on the semi-permanent or weak bridges under Mawkyrwat division.
The bridges are Jakrem Ranikor via Rangmaw upto Mawksiar Road (Bridge No. 8/13), Jakrem Ranikor via Rangmaw upto Mawksiar Road (Bridge No. 11/8), Mawkyrwat Photjaud Road (Bridge No. 4/1), two bridges along Mawkyrwat Wahsiej Road (Bridge No 4/1) (Bridge No 7/ 1), Mawlangwir to Nonglang via Saitsnad Road (Bridge No 1/2) and the approach road to Mawlangwir village (Bridge No 2/ l).
