Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) Chief Executive Member Pyniaid Sing Syiem today inaugurated the community health park at Lawsohtun.
During his speech, Syiem lauded the dorbar shnong for the initiative. “We know that everyone nowadays is health conscious and such a park will motivate the young and the old to come to the park and enjoy fresh air and the serenity,” he said.
He said that few localities have such vast sports facilities like Lawsohtun. “This not only shows the locality’s love for sports but also the fact that it creates an opportunity for the young talents to improve themselves to further participate in bigger platforms,” he said.
The CEM also stressed the importance of getting the Governor’s approval on the second amendment of the Administration of Elaka Act of 1991, which aims to recognise the youth and women organisation of the dorbar shnongs. Once it is approved, it will further empower the dorbars, he added.
Former MLA Hamletson Dohling was also present at the function.
