South West Khasi Hills district has banned discharge of effluents by automobile workshops, hotels, restaurants etc, into the rivers and streams.
An order under Section 144 CrPC was passed today by the district magistrate in order to keep the rivers and streams in the district clean, to maintain their natural beauty, and ensure safe drinking water.
