All medical shops and pharmacies in West Jaiñtia Hills that sell schedule H and X drugs must install CCTV cameras inside and outside the premises.
Schedule H drugs are those that cannot be sold without a doctor’s prescription and X are those prescription medicines that are even more strictly regulated, such as amphetamine and ketamine.
The order was passed by the district magistrate on September 26, 2023 and was made available to the press today.
A time period of one month has been given to the shop owners for installation of CCTV cameras. Footage of such cameras can be randomly checked by the District Drug Controller Authority / Child Welfare Police Officer at any time.
In case any medical shop/pharmacy fails to comply with the order, action will be taken against the owners.
