On the occasion of the World Blood Donors Day, the Jowai Blood Bank Centre felicitated the organisation and individual blood donors today.
While felicitating the blood donors, special appreciation was given to individual donors Specialson Turnia, who has donated 25 times, Socially Kamar and Wanmi Laloo, who have donated 10 times each.
The function was organised by Jowai Civil Hospital’s blood centre on the theme ‘Give Blood, Give Plasma, Share Life, Share.’
Joining with the rest, a pledge led by Assistant Commissioner Wankhraw Kupar Kharbuli along with the Medical Superintendent of the hospital, Dr Rita Pohrmen, Blood Centre in-charge Dr P Shylla, staff of the blood bank and blood donors was taken.
Speaking on the occasion, Kharbuli said the day is a reminder of the selfless act of donating blood without any expectation. He encouraged healthy individuals to come forward and donate blood.
A blood donation camp was also held on this day, organised by the Meghalaya Cricket Association and West Jaintia Hills District Cricket Association in collaboration with the Jowai Civil Hospital Blood Bank in which five members stepped forward to donate blood.
