In order to provide guidance to students of Eastern West Khasi Hills with regards to career opportunities in the hospitality and tourism industry, the office of the Mairang Block Development Officer, in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Hotel Management (IIHM) Shillong, today organised a career counselling programme for aspiring students in Mairang.
Students of different schools and colleges of the district attended along with their respective teachers.
Officials attending the programme included Mairang BDO LR Hynniewta, IIHM Shillong lecturer S Khonglah and IIHM Shillong demonstrator S Wahlang.
The students were from Mairang Presbyterian Higher Secondary School, Khadsawphra College, St Thomas Higher Secondary School and Myriaw RMSA Higher Secondary School.
The programme was organised with the aim of guiding the students with regards to career opportunities in the hotel management and hospitality industry, a growing sector especially in terms of tourism, by interacting through visual presentations and counseling them through the different courses offered by IIHM Shillong.
The institute offers various courses, including BSc in Hospitality & Hotel Administration, diploma courses for HSSLC graduates of any stream and short term certificate courses for Class 10 graduates with English as one of the subjects.
