The Eastern Command Investiture ceremony will be conducted for the first time at Jorhat on February 22
A ceremony of such a magnitude is generally conducted in the Command HQ at Kolkata. However, in sync with the national policy of taking the conduct of such significant functions to spotlight all important cities of the country, this year’s ceremony is being conducted at Jorhat, the cultural capital of Assam, a press release here said.
In addition to the individuals, units which have performed their tasks exceedingly will be honoured at the ceremony.
A ‘Know Your Army-Equipment Display Mela’ will also be organised at Jorhat Sports Stadium from February 2.
Other than various state-of-art weapons and equipment, the mela will also have informative stalls on various avenues available for joining the armed forces, thereby motivating young minds to join the folds of Indian armed Forces.
