The National People’s Party’s East Jaiñtia Hills unit yesterday welcomed the ex-president of the Mahila Congress, Jhanika Siangshai, along with 48 others who joined the NPP at a meeting held at Ladrymbai Dongwah.
Siangshai, who is now the president of the East Jaiñtia National People’s Party Women’s Wing, said that they joined the NPP because the Congress Party does not have a candidate to contest the next state elections Khliehriat constituency.
Leaders of the NPP district unit expressed happiness to see more people joining the party in support of the NPP candidate for Khliehriat, Nehlang Lyngdoh.
Others who spoke at the meeting were NPP district president John Dkhar, NPP Khliehriat block committee general secretary Iasyllokki Lyngdoh, adviser Heibormiki Shylla and others.
